For all of its history, tonight’s is a big first for the Tigers: the program has never played at the historic Rose Bowl before. Thousands of LSU fans weren’t about to miss that opportunity.
According to those on hand in Pasadena, the fan breakdown is just about 50/50, though it may skew even more heavily to LSU than that. UCLA is far from the first road opponent for this to happen to, when inviting a huge SEC fan base like LSU’s to town.
Tonight’s game is a huge one for both program. The Bayou Bengals are looking to prove that their incredible 2019 season wasn’t a fluke, and rebound from a disappointing 2020. UCLA, which scored an impressive win against Hawaii last week, hopes to move to 2-0 and really take a big step forward in the up-and-down Chip Kelly era.

Another sign that LSU fans are in town: the Tigers are drinking the opposing stadium dry.
I was just informed the Rose Bowl has run out of beer in our section.
The teams have not taken the field yet 😬#GeauxTigers

This is LSU’s first trip to the Rose Bowl, and the first game ever between these two historic programs, despite the fact that both programs have been playing football since the 1910s. It’s not every Saturday that you get a matchup that you’ve never seen before. Hopefully this one lives up to the billing.
LSU is a 1.5 point road favorite in this one.
Tonight’s game in Pasadena kicked off moments ago. UCLA has possession first today.
