LSU basketball entered the season with high expectations, but the program has been disappointing thus far. Despite returning some impressive talent and bringing in a national player of the year candidate in freshman Ben Simmons, the Tigers entered last night's game against Kentucky with an 8-5 record.
But maybe yesterday's game against the 'Cats was a sign of what the Tigers are truly capable of. Led by guard Tim Quarterman's 21 points and 10 rebounds, LSU throttled No. 9 Kentucky, 85-67.
Simmons had a "quiet" game by his lofty standards, recording 14 points, 10 rebounds and three assists while dealing with early foul trouble. Still, his ability to impact the game was obvious, and he clearly was feeling pretty good about himself afterwards, judging by this Instagram post.
Simmons posted this picture after the game, which shows him dunking above a pair of Kentucky defenders, and captioned it "I rock LSU gold on these...". In case you were wondering, those are his take on some Drake lyrics. In his song "Scholarships" with Future, Drake, an unabashed UK fan, says he "rocks Kentucky blue on these h--s."
Furthermore, Simmons even tagged Drake's Instagram in the caption.
That's savage by the big Aussie.
He may only be 19, but his trash talking game appears to be on a high level next to his basketball skills.
