Photo: LSU Dressed Up A Locker For Y.A. Tittle's Return To Campus

Earlier this week, LSU sports information director Michael Bonnette announced that former Tigers quarterback Y.A. Tittle, who eventually went on to have a Hall of Fame career in the NFL, will be returning to campus for this Saturday's game. Tittle, who starred at LSU in the late 1940s, is the subject of one of the most famous sports photographs of all-time. In the photo referenced below by Bonnette, Tittle, playing for the New York Giants, had just thrown an interception against the Pittsburgh Steelers and suffered both a concussion and a broken sternum. It was run by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in 1964.

Friday, Bonnette shared a photo of the custom locker that the school put up for Tittle's return. As you can see, it has the old style of helmet with an updated jersey.
