TCU head coach Gary Patterson unveiled new Nike uniforms for the Horned Frogs today after several weeks of hype. The uniforms feature the standard purple and black colors as well as a new touch of red. The red comes from the fact that horned frogs can shoot blood out of their eyes.
Patterson teased different parts of the uniform including cleats and gloves over the past few weeks. He finally revealed the full uniform after practice today:
The Frogs are expected to wear the uniforms on August 31 when they face the LSU Tigers in the Cowboys Kickoff Classic. Patterson also made it clear earlier that TCU will wear them more than once this season.
The uniforms are also already receiving high praise from some recruits. 2014 offensive tackle commits Ty Barrett and Austin Schlottman shared their thoughts about the uniform on Twitter yesterday. The two players got a sneak peek at the new look earlier in the week.
While the uniforms probably won’t have a huge impact on how the players perform on the field, they certainly are providing an extra positive step for recruiting. What do you think of the new uniforms?
