LSU star safety Jalen Mills suffered a fractured fibula during Wednesday morning's practice and is expected to miss four to six weeks, according to The Times-Picyune.
Mills averaged nearly five tackles a game last season, finishing his junior season with 62 tackles - three for a loss, five pass break-ups and one interception. The most experienced member of the defense, the 6-foot-1, 194-pound safety has started all 39 games since stepping on campus in Baton Rouge.

The loss of Mills is a big one for an LSU team that plays Mississippi State and Auburn in the first few weeks of the season, but the depth will ease the pain on defense. The Tigers open their 2015 campaign September 5 against McNeese State, but they'll do so without their leader on the defensive side of the ball.
