Tommie Robinson is making the move from USC to LSU to coach running backs, according to a report by The Advocate.
LSU unexpectedly demoted running backs coach Jabbar Juluke and firing wide receivers coach Dameyune Craig last week, angering high school coaches in New Orleans. According to the report, head coach Ed Orgeron is bringing in Robinson, who he coached with during his brief tenure at USC, to handle running backs.
Louisiana Tech running backs coach Mickey Joseph will coach receivers for the Tigers.
Southern California running backs coach Tommie Robinson and Louisiana Tech running backs coach Mickey Joseph will join LSU's coaching staff, a source told The Advocate on Tuesday. The Advocate reported Monday that the two coaches were Orgeron's top targets for his two open positions.
An announcement from the school is expected later Tuesday.
Robinson, ranked as the No. 2-ranked recruiter in college football during this recruiting cycle, will coach running backs in Baton Rouge, replacing Jabbar Juluke. Joseph, a New Orleans native, will handle receivers, replacing Dameyune Craig.
LSU will be Robinson's first job in the SEC. He has previously coached running backs at Miami, Oklahoma State, and Texas, and has NFL experience with the Arizona Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys.
