Vanderbilt Coach Derek Mason Says He's Not Going To Pull A Les Miles During Vanderbilt's First Game

For 19 years, Derek Mason was an assistant coach. Thursday, Mason will coach a regular season game for the first time as a head man.

The Vanderbilt coach, who spent the last four years at Stanford before taking over for James Franklin in Nashville, will lead the Commodores Thusrday as they open the season against Temple.

How will Mason respond to his first time on the field as a head coach? He's sure of one thing: he's not going to pull a Les Miles.

While he might not attempt to imitate Miles' eating habits, mimicking the LSU coach's ability to win games wouldn't be a bad idea.

Vanderbilt and Temple are set to kickoff Thursday at 9:15 p.m. E.T. The game will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
