Oregon made the College Football Playoff committee’s job easy with a win over Utah on Friday night. The Ducks eliminated the Utes from playoff contention by winning the Pac-12.
LSU did its best to help out on Saturday afternoon as well. The Tigers dominated the Georgia Bulldogs, eliminating Kirby Smart’s program from playoff contention as well.
However, the Tigers may have dominated a little too much and given the committee something to think about. After star quarterback Joe Burrow threw for over 340 yards and four touchdowns, LSU built a case to be the No. 1 team in the rankings.
Following the win, Burrow and Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron shared a special moment. Coach O attempted to give the game ball to Burrow, but the star quarterback made sure it ended in the coach’s hands.

With an SEC title in hand, the Tigers will wait just under 24 hours to find out where they sit in the latest rankings.
Ohio State’s performance in the Big Ten title game will go a long way to determining the playoff seeding.
The four teams appear set, but the seeding is up for grabs. Ohio State, LSU, Clemson and Oklahoma will vie for a national title.
