LSU head football coach Les Miles has a former player in mind when trying to shape his current defensive backs. It’s Tyrann Mathieu, and why wouldn’t it be?
Mathieu finished his two-year career at LSU having created a total of 14 turnovers. His 11 forced fumbles is a school record – and an SEC record – and he recovered six of those himself. He had four interceptions and also scored four touchdowns.
He was an incredibly electric defensive back as a Tiger, so it shouldn’t surprise anybody that Miles wants to recreate that same magic.

If he has any success molding his defensive backs into anything Mathieu was on the field at LSU, Tigers fans are in for a surprise.
