Mississippi State vs. Texas A&M preview:
Mississippi State snapped a three-game losing skid with a 56-41 win over Samford on Saturday, and it was the most points the Bulldogs have put up all year. Mississippi State is basically a one-trick pony this year. That trick? Quarterback Nick Fitzgerald. In the win over Samford he threw five touchdowns and ran for two more. Still, it wasn't an easy win by any means, Mississippi State gave up an absurd 627 yards to Samford. That kind of soft defense against Texas A&M will put the Bulldogs out of the game by the end of the first quarter.
Texas A&M demolished New Mexico State last weekend, 52-10. If the Aggies want a spot in the College Playoff, they'll need to keep up the dominating performances, and with a high powered offense and a stout defense, they should have no trouble doing so against an underwhelming Mississippi State team.
Mississippi State vs. Texas A&M prediction:
The Aggies win this game in dominating fashion. The Bulldogs offense will be unable to move the ball against a Texas A&M defense keying entirely off of Fitzgerald, and the defense will be unable to stop the run or Trevor Knight through the air. The Aggies roll on and keep their College Playoff hopes alive.
