In his one year at Mississippi State, guard Malik Newman averaged 11.3 points in 27.7 minutes per game. He tested the NBA Draft waters, but decided to return to college. He will not, however, play his sophomore season in Starkville. According to a report by CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein, Newman has been given his release and intends to transfer.
