Chad Kelly, Ole Miss' star quarterback, had to be restrained after running onto the field in the middle of a brawl involving his younger brother's high school football team.
Kelly, who has had a bit of a checkered past during his high school and college career, which began at Clemson, has emerged as a star at Ole Miss. Tonight's incident won't help his efforts to restore his reputation.
Kelly is back in his hometown of Buffalo, NY during Ole Miss' bye week, and attended his brother Casey Kelly's St. Joseph's football game against Timon High School. Kelly was hit out of bounds late during the game, which started the brawl. Chad Kelly jumped into the fray, and had to be restrained.
News 4 Buffalo's Tom Martin has video of Kelly being held back during the incident.
Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze put out a statement, acknowledging his quarterback's role in the brawl.
We'll see if Kelly faces any discipline going forward. Ole Miss has a huge game at No. 16 Arkansas next Saturday. Kelly is having a strong season for the Rebels, with 1,596 passing yards, 13 touchdowns, and four interceptions in five games for Hugh Freeze's 3-2 team.
