Rivals Suspends Writer For Offensive Tweet Regarding Ole Miss

Following Ole Miss' loss to Auburn Saturday night, a result that could easily have turned out much differently if not for an unfortunate fumble by Laquon Treadwell, the Rebels' national title hopes are very much in danger. Ole Miss fans, clearly, are upset about how the contest ended - especially because of Treadwell's injury. But what one Rivals writer tweeted went a bit over the line.

Orangebloods.com owner and writer Geoff Ketchum tweeted out a highly questionably remark regarding Oxford - the town where Ole Miss is located. Screenshots of the tweet went viral. Ole Miss' AD, Ross Bjork, eventually responded to an apology that Ketchum posted.

Sunday, Rivals.com, which owns the publication, released a statement, announcing that Ketchum has been suspended for the transgression. Via AL.com:

"Rivals.com maintains strict editorial guidelines, and the Tweet by Geoff Ketchum violated not only our standards, but also the standards of our industry," said Rivals.com PR manager Sean Hamel. "He has apologized and the Tweet has been removed. In addition, Geoff has been suspended from writing for Rivals.com and OrangeBloods.com and a full editorial review is underway."

Ketchum, for the record, has apologized numerous times - both on Twitter and his site - for the comment.
