Hayden Barnard Of Chicago Commits To Mizzou Basketball, Will Be A Preferred Walk-On

Chicago area basketball player Hayden Barnard committed to join the Missouri basketball team, according to his Twitter account. Barnard will be a preferred walk-on.

Spoke to the coach of 6-9 post Hayden Barnard, who is headed to #Mizzou as a preferred walk-on. Said he averaged 6.5 ppg and 4.5 rpg as a SR

Sometimes @haydenbarnard is too tall for door frames.

Barnard is a 6’9″ center that played for Metea Valley high school in Aurora, Ill. “He excels at shot blocking and has a soft touch around the rim”, according to Scott Burgess of ChicagoHoops.com. Burgess also shares that Barnard’s parents went to Mizzou, his brother is currently attending the school, and his grandfather played for the Tigers as well.

Barnard is another big body that Frank Haith will be bringing in this fall. Way back in October, before the nightmare Mizzou season that began with the Michael Dixon saga, Mizzou got commitments from four-star forward Johnathan Williams III and three-star forward Torren Jones. In January, four-star center Keanau Post pledged to the Tigers after previously playing at a junior college.

Tony Criswell, Ryan Rosburg, Stefan Jankovic and Danny Feldman will be in the mix in the front court in 2013-2014. Haith will look for a few of them to fill the void left by Laurence Bowers and Alex Oriakhi.
