Highlights Of Gary Pinkel's Final Press Conference Of The Season

Coach Pinkel wraps up the season.

Gary Pinkel spoke to the media this morning about retirement rumors, Sheldon Richardson, his staff, Henry Josey, quarterbacks, expectations from fans, and more. Here are the highlights from Twitter:

Observations:

  • Pinkel confirmed that the rumors about him resigning or retiring were false. Not a surprise but good to hear Pinkel talk about it.
  • It's only a matter of time before Sheldon Richardson declares he will enter the NFL Draft. Richardson is getting first round attention in recent mock drafts. If the defensive tackle does well at the combine he could be a middle of the first round talent.
  • The staff will likely remain the same; unfortunate for fans who can't stand Dave Yost's offense.
  • Positive words about Henry Josey this week from Pinkel on his return next season. I think a healthy Franklin and Josey could be the best quarterback-running back combo in the SEC next season.
  • The most contested competition in spring ball might be at quarterback. Franklin, Corbin Berkstresser and Maty Mauk will get a shot. It's Franklin's job to lose, and it looks like he will be the starter at the beginning of next season.
