The Denver Broncos have had a difficult time finding a proper replacement for Peyton Manning since he retired after Super Bowl 50. They'll certainly be looking for one this off-season, but may have a target in mind that they can land in the 2019 NFL Draft.

According to Mike Kiszla of The Denver Post, Broncos top executive John Elway is "smitten" with Missouri quarterback Drew Lock.

The worst-kept secret at the Senior Bowl: John Elway is smitten with Lock. I’m not sold on him, but my vote doesn’t count when Denver is on the clock during the NFL Draft.

Lock was a four-year starter for the Tigers, earning First-Team All-SEC honors in 2017, and Second-Team All-SEC honors in 2018.

He finished his career with a completion percentage of 56.9, 99 touchdowns, 12,193 passing yards, and 39 interceptions.

In 2017, he set an SEC passing record with 43 touchdowns en route to a 7-6 record and a loss in the Texas Bowl.

Since Manning retired after the 2015 season, the Broncos have swung and missed on several starting quarterbacks and acquisitions including Brock Osweiler, Paxton Lynch, Trevor Siemian, and Case Keenum.

The Broncos have missed the playoffs in each of the last three seasons.

They have the No. 10 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
