Kentucky Gets A Huge Win Over Mizzou In OT

Clutch win for Kentucky.

Story: Kentucky defeated the Missouri Tigers in a College GameDay thriller.

After a back-and-forth first half, the Kentucky Wildcats came out with a roar to start the second session. Archie Goodwin, who was scoreless in the first half, consecutively nailed a 3-pointer, forced a steal on Mizzou then dunked the ball all within 20 seconds.

Four of Kentucky's starters scored double digits; Harrow, Goodwin, Poythress and Mays. The only starter without double digits was Willie Cauley-Stein, who made up for it on the defensive end with seven blocks and 12 rebounds.

Down the stretch, Mizzou took charge and was able to tie the game at 75. After Alex Poythress, who was player of the game, blocked a Mizzou jump shot, the game went into overtime. The Cats hit clutch free throws throughout overtime to take the W away from the Tigers. Kentucky shot 63% from the free throw line and hit 11 free throws in overtime alone.

Another factor that played a huge role in this clutch victory for Kentucky was the crowd for both College GameDay and the actual game.

The biggest question concerning Kentucky this year is whether or not the Wildcats will get a bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Winning against a tough Mizzou team who recently knocked off No. 5 Florida gives the Cats another quality win. Kentucky has four games remaining in the regular season. Two of these games are on the road against Arkansas and Georgia. The other two are at Rupp against Mississippi State and Florida. For Kentucky to prove itself as a team that deserves inclusion in March Madness, it will most likely have to win all four of these games. Are the Wildcats up for the challenge?
