Missouri Turns Down Chance To Play In A Bowl Game

At the moment, there are 75 bowl-eligible teams in college football, yet spots for teams in 40 bowl games. That means that a number of programs with 5-7 records are getting the chance to participate in the postseason. How will those teams be picked? Based on APR rates - highest to lowest. Nebraska, Missouri and Kansas State are first in line, according to ESPN's Brett McMurphy.

However, Missouri has already officially declined the opportunity. Monday afternoon, school AD Mack Rhoades released a statement on the matter, telling Tigers fans that the program would instead prefer to focus on its search for a new head coach. A few weeks back, Gary Pinkel announced he'd be retiring after the 2015 campaign to focus on his fight with non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
