Report: Loss to Mizzou Final Straw for Derek Dooley

Tennessee now in the market for a new head coach.

According to Rivals.com's Tennessee affiliate, Volquest.com, Derek Dooley has been fired as the head coach at Tennessee.

The decision to fire Dooley comes after weeks of speculation that his struggles against top 25 teams (0-13 at UT) and his incompetence this year in the SEC (0-6) would cost him his job - not to mention years of wearing hideous, baggy orange pants. A 51-48 quadruple-overtime loss at home to Missouri appears to have been all that Tennessee's athletic director could handle.

Perhaps what will be seen as "the" reason that Tennessee lost the game - other than its porous 2nd half defense - is the decision by Dooley to settle into half time, despite possessing the ball on their own 40 yard line, with two timeouts and nearly one minute to go.
