College Football Fans Going Off On The NCAA After Hearing Of Marcus Lattimore's Reported Retirement

Monday morning, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Caplan tweeted a bit of news that would be sure to upset any college football fan. San Francisco 49ers running back Marcus Lattimore, who last took the field for the South Carolina Gamecocks in 2012, is reportedly retiring due to ongoing knee troubles. Lattimore suffered two major knee injuries in college and is rumored to have torn his MCL last week during practice.

Lattimore was considered a first-round talent after an incredible freshman year in Columbia, but his injuries dramatically hurt his stock, and he was eventually selected in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the 49ers.

With the news starting to make the rounds, college football fans who take issue with the NCAA's practices are going off on Twitter. It's safe to say that most believe that it's unfair how Lattimore wasn't able to profit off of his likeness in college, yet he was able to damage his career by suffering injuries. Here's a sampling:

Lattimore may still have a future in football - many believe that he'd be a great coach someday. But there's no doubt that he'd be in a much better situation if he'd been able to market himself in his three years of college.
