The Bears Have Released Former South Carolina QB Connor Shaw

The former standout Gamecocks' quarterback has been waived by his NFL team.

Connor Shaw has been waived.

The former South Carolina starting quarterback has been waived by the Chicago Bears, who need to make room to sign free agent wide receiver Victor Cruz.

Shaw, 25, missed the entire 2016 NFL season with a broken leg.

He had played for the Cleveland Browns from 2014-15.

Shaw went undrafted in 2014 after starring at South Carolina, where he was the Capital One Bowl MVP his final season. He's played sparingly in the NFL, throwing for 155 yards and one interception thus far in his career. Update: Bears quarterback Mark Sanchez injured his knee, so Chicago has rescinded the waiving of Shaw.
