Did Butch Jones Forget How Many Games Tennessee Won In 2015?

Tennessee went 9-4 in 2015. Yesterday, after beating Mizzou, Butch Jones said that Tennessee hadn't won eight games in a while. What?

Tennessee entered the year with huge expectations. This season was supposed to be the culmination of years of great recruiting, the year that the Vols finally broke through to win the SEC East for the first time since 2007.

Instead, the Vols got crushed with injuries and never quite lived up to their lofty expectations. The year isn't a total waste, however. The team is 8-3, with a very winnable game against Vanderbilt next weekend. It should go to a decent bowl. So it is very natural for Butch Jones to look for the bright side in everything that has gone down this season.

That being said, this isn't the answer...

Most Tennessee fans will remember that Tennessee won eight games just last season, and added a ninth by stomping Northwestern in the Outback Bowl 45-6.

Perhaps he meant that it had been a while since Tennessee won eight games this early in the season. Or that Tennessee has a chance to win eight games in back to back seasons for the first time since 2006-2007, which is also true. That's a nice accomplishment. Unfortunately, that's not what came out.
