Tennessee's football team is having a rough few weeks, and yesterday tensions reportedly boiled over between two players during practice.
According to local radio host Jimmy Hyams, offensive lineman Trey Smith and defensive end Darrell Taylor got into a scuffle after Smith pancaked Taylor.
The two wrestled after the play, and eventually Taylor kicked Smith in the face, causing him to receive stitches.
Taylor will miss the first half of Tennessee's game against South Carolina, after being ejected in the second half in the blowout loss to Georgia. He did reportedly apologize to Smith after the incident, so hopefully for Tennessee's locker room's sake, this was a one-off issue.
Smith, a starting offensive lineman for the Vols, is not expected to miss any time. Taylor is ninth on the team in total tackles, with 20, including two tackles for loss, a sack, a fumble recovery, and a forced fumble.
This fight comes on the heels of an alleged one between Shy Tuttle and Nigel Warrior. Tuttle sustained a broken orbital bone two weeks ago, but when asked if it occurred during a fight with a teammate, Jones went off on a rant about "fake news" during a press conference.
Tennessee's 2018 football season begins on September 1 against West Virginia in Charlotte.
