Tennessee is still in need of a head coach.

According to numerous reports, NC State head coach Dave Doeren will not be leaving Raleigh to take the head coaching job at Tennessee. Pete Thamel first dropped the news on Thursday afternoon.

Tennessee has now been rebuffed by Mike Gundy, David Cutcliffe and Dave Doeren. The program rescinded an offer to Greg Schiano this past Sunday after fans revolted against the idea of the former Rutgers head coach taking over the program.

At this point, it's fair to say that Tennessee is in a bit of trouble here. The Vols, despite having one of the most storied programs in college football, have made such a mess of this hiring process that many believe they're going to have a hard time attracting good candidates.
