This isn’t over folks.
The ongoing Greg Schiano/Tennessee saga is one of the craziest things we’ve ever seen in college sports.
Irate Tennessee fans helped kill a potential deal between Schiano and the Volunteers, and now he won’t be the coach in Knoxville, per multiple reports. But it doesn’t end there.
According to multiple reports, both Schiano and Tennessee had signed a memorandum of understanding and the framework of a deal was being worked on. Additionally, he could be seeking monetary compensation from Tennessee for backing out.
Am told UT & Greg Schiano had a understanding of terms & now Schiano’s side is seeking compensation for breaking the agreement off. Wow https://t.co/ppxU2CWIrn

The Greg Schiano to Tennessee deal is dead. Following a public outcry among fans and state politicians, Tennessee backed out of a memorandum of understanding with Schiano that had been signed earlier in the day by both parties.

SOURCES: There is some talk going on now between Greg Schiano's reps & #Tennessee about an exit strategy of what has become a very volatile situation. Paperwork was in progress. “They’ve spooked them all,” said a source. "It's a hot mess."

Once again, it is almost impossible to screw up a coaching search worse than Tennessee did this one.
We’ll see if their error will cost the school money.
