Kirk Herbstreit On Tennessee's Jeremy Pruitt: "I Think He'll Do A Great Job"

Kirk Herbstreit is a fan of Jeremy Pruitt.

Tennessee hired Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt as its new head coach this off-season. Pruitt replaced Kirby Smart as Alabama's defensive coordinator in 2016, and now he'll have to compete against him in the SEC East.

The Vols are hoping that Pruitt will have an impact similar to the one Smart has had at Georgia. Tennessee fans are hungry to return to the college football elite.

ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit was asked about Pruitt this morning and how he'll fare next season.

Herbie is a fan of the Pruitt hire overall, saying he thinks he'll "do a great job."

"I think he’ll do a great job. Been around a lot of winning last 10 years or so. Outstanding recruiter. Relates well to players. Excited to see what he’ll build on Rocky Top," Herbstreit tweeted.

Pruitt is one of five new head coaches in the SEC this year. He joins Arkansas' Chad Morris, Florida's Dan Mullen, Mississippi State's Joe Moorhead and Texas A&M's Jimbo Fisher.

Interestingly, he's the only one of those five with no prior head coaching experience.

Tennessee will open up the Pruitt Era against West Virginia at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on Sept. 1.

The Vols' first home game will be the following week against ETSU.
