Lyn-J Dixon, a four-star running back out of Georgia, committed to Tennessee this afternoon.
247Sports ranks Dixon the No. 308 overall player in the class of 2018.
He's the No. 6 all-purpose back in the country, and the No. 32 Georgia recruit.
He is the first running back to join Tennessee's 2018 class, which is now 13 players deep.
Dixon made the announcement with a video on Twitter.
His full note:
"First off I would like to thank God for blessing me with this Ability to Play Football. I would like to Thank all the Coaches who had Offered me and believed in me to play football For the next level. I appreciate my Family, Friends, and My high school coaches for being behind me 110%. After many prayers and Conversations with family and friends, I have Decided to Commit to THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE! #DOM1N8 #VOLS"
Dixon spoke to 247 about his decision:
“I felt like that was the place,” said Dixon, who’s ranked the No. 307 overall prospect and No. 6 all-purpose back in the 247Sports Composite for the 2018 class. “I’ve kind of been leaning toward them for a while, (since) a couple weeks before Orange Carpet Day.
“I just like the family atmosphere. When I went to ‘Orange Carpet Day,’ I was seeing everybody being there for each other, seeing the coaches’ kids running around, having a good time. That kind of put in my mind that they have a family atmosphere.”
Tennessee lands Dixon over a number of other top programs, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Louisville, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia Tech, and many others.
The Vols now have the second-ranked class in the SEC and the No. 8 overall class for 2018.
