Tennessee fans, we feel you. First, it was a horrific loss to Georgia State. Then, BYU came to your house and won in overtime. But a week three win over Chatannooga was a step in the right direction. Just one week later though, it's back to misery for UT fans.
The Volunteers are getting beat badly by No. 9 Florida. The Gators hold a 31-3 lead early in the fourth quarter. It's just not Tennessee's year.
Despite the team's performance to start the season, several Volunteers fans showed up to Gainesville. Clearly, they were hoping for a miracle upset. As the game progressed though, it became clear Florida was the much better team.
To make matters worse, a photo of a sad Tennessee fan at the game has gone viral.
"Hello darkness, my old friend" indeed. Tennessee is a train-wreck this season. It hurts even more considering many national experts were predicting a huge year for the Volunteers. But the program appears to be going in the wrong direction.
The fact remains that the SEC is ran by teams like Alabama, Georgia and LSU. Yes, Tennessee has national championship hopes. But maybe the Volunteers should focus on beating FCS teams and conference opponents before building such high aspirations.
The one piece of good news? It can only go up from here.
