Donnie Tyndall is out as Tennessee's men's basketball coach. The 44-year-old coach is the subject of an NCAA investigation centered on the Southern Miss program he ran from 2012-14.
The firing of Tyndall is a result of the potential sanctions that could be placed on Tyndall as a result of the investigation, Tennessee athletic director Dave Hart said.
During a press conference this morning, Hart admitted it was probably a mistake hiring Tyndall in the first place.

Tyndall arrived at Tennessee in 2014 with a strong resume - he led Southern Miss to back-to-back 27-plus win seasons in 2013 and '14 - but the Volunteers clearly didn't do a good enough job vetting the coach.
