Tonight was an awful night for top basketball teams on the road. No. 1 Villanova lost at Marquette, No. 2 Kansas fell to West Virginia, and No. 4 Kentucky could not escape Tennessee basketball.
Kentucky battled back from a decent deficit down the stretch of tonight's game in Knoxville, but could never quite chain together enough big stops on defense to get over the hump, falling to Tennessee 82-80.
Robert Hubbs III didn't quite seal the game with this monster dunk with 2:43 left, but it did put Tennessee up seven, and it got Thompson–Boling Arena ROLLING.
Hubbs had a monster performance, scoring 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting, with seven rebounds and two assists.
Tennessee legend Bernard King was on hand for the game, and was way into the upset.
The loss was the third for a top-four team on the night. Kentucky had a chance to jump up to No. 1, but it looks like undefeated Gonzaga, which sits at No. 3, is likely to grab the top spot in the polls. The Bulldogs have a real chance to run the table in the WCC, and lock up a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
