Jeremy Pruitt's first year as head coach of Tennessee did not end with a bowl game, but it did end with a solid recruiting class.

According to reports, 4-star RB Eric Gray has committed to Tennessee. Gray had been weighing offers from Alabama, South Carolina, Penn State, and Michigan.

247Sports has Gray rated as the No. 171 prospect in the country, No. 4 All-Purpose Back, and the No. 5 prospect from the state of Tennessee.

In joining the Vols, Gray becomes the highest-rated RB on the team and the fourth-highest rated prospect overall.

247Sports ranks Tennessee's Class of 2019 as No. 16 in the nation and No. 6 in the SEC. Those are both improvements from last year, when the Vols were No. 21 in the nation and No. 8 in the SEC.

The Vols finished the 2018 season at 5-7, missing out on bowl eligibility for the second year in a row.

Tennessee had a chance to gain bowl eligibility after beating No. 12 Kentucky and moving to 5-5 on the season, but back-to-back losses to Missouri and Vanderbilt ended their bowl ambitions.
