No. 1 2017 Dual-Threat Quarterback Tate Martell Announces Commitment To Texas A&M On Twitter

Five-star quarterback Tate Martell is ranked No. 1 among dual-threat quarterbacks and No. 12 overall in the class of 2017 by 247Sports' composite rankings. As of tonight, he is also the next blue chip Texas A&M quarterback. Martell made his announcement this evening on Twitter.

Martell, who is listed at 5-foot-11, 180 pounds, is drawing some comparisons to another notable dual-threat A&M signal caller.

Based on an article by Nicole Auerbach from Monday, Martell thinks he might have something on Manziel, at this point in his development.

“He was a great player,” Martell says. “I think that I have some of the same abilities as him, but I’m just more fundamentally sound as a quarterback where I think that’s where he’s lacking right now. You can see it in the NFL. He’s always played kind of lackadaisical and loose where quarterbacks they need to be quick with their decision and stuff like that.”

A&M fans would certainly take another Johnny Football. He has some big shoes to fill once he hits College Station.
