One of the worst aspects of the NFL Draft occurring later this year than it has ever been--the first round begins Thursday, May 8--is that analysts have more time than they've ever had to nitpick prospects. One of the best examples of this is ESPN's Merrill Hoge calling South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney "atrocious" and "not a very good football player."
Another aspect of the NFL Draft starting about a month later than it usually does is there is more time for hype, which means more marketing, more commercials, etc.
Here's an extremely strange promo by ESPN that features Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel throwing alone in a cornfield. ESPN put out promos for other prospects--Teddy Bridgewater, Blake Bortles, Derek Carr, Jadeveon Clowney, Sammy Watkins, and Marqise Lee--but Manziel's appears to be the best.
The arm strength is impressive, but he doesn't appear to be throwing to anyone, so the accuracy has to be questioned.
