CB Tre' Douglas Commits To Vanderbilt Over A Number Of Massive Programs

Tre' Douglas may be a three-star, but he had offers from many of the top programs in the country. Today, he committed to Vanderbilt.

247Sports' composite rankings have Douglas ranked No. 34 among class of 2018 cornerbacks.

The site has him No. 357 overall, and No. 37 in Georgia.

His offer list is one of a much more highly-ranked player, however. Back in February, he released a top 12 of Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Penn State, Stanford, UCLA and Vanderbilt.

Today, he decided that he will be a Commodore.

His full note:

First off I would like to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for putting me in the position he's put me in and I will forever be grateful. I would also like to thank my Mother and Father for making this all possible and shaping me into the person I've become to this day and for staying by my side through this whole process. I would also like to thank my friends and teammates who have been right next to me through this whole process and have never switched up. Finally, I also want to thank the coaches who have given me an opportunity to play at the next level. With all tht being said, I would like to announce I will be furthering my education adn football career for four years at THE UNIVERSITY OF VANDERBILT! #ANCHORDOWN

He detailed the somewhat surprising choice to 247Sports.

"Everything honestly," Douglas told 247Sports regarding his decision to commit to Vandy. "The whole place screamed out to me 'Tre we NEED you not want you.'"

Aside from the top 12, he also holds offers from Alabama, Duke, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, North Carolina, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas, USC, Virginia Tech, and numerous others.

This is a very impressive pick up for head coach Derek Mason, who will need to keep winning battles like this to compete in the SEC. The 'Dores now have 1o commits, and the No. 33 class in the country (No. 6 in the SEC).
