Vanderbilt pitcher Brian Miller had himself quite a Wednesday night. Miller’s team, the Commodores, won their first College World Series title by holding off Virginia, 2-1, to win the best-of-three series. But what happened after might be even more consequential. Miller, during the post-game celebration, ran over to his girlfriend, Megan Bonds, and proposed right on the field. As The Tennessean reports, it was something that, before the season, he told his teammates he’d do, should they accomplish the feat.
“I’ll tell you, it’s actually a sweet little story,” Miller said. “The first game of the year at Long Beach I was with Tyler Beede in the outfield, and he said, ‘You won’t propose to your girlfriend if you win the national championship.’ I shook his hand and said, ‘I will do it.’ And here we are.”
Here’s video of the moment – his teammates go absolutely crazy after realizing what is happening.
Well done. And no, for those wondering, there is no date set yet.
