Kate Upton Wore Nothing But 'Body Paint' In Stunning Photo

Throughout Kate Upton's modeling career, she's been frequently featured in Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue.

Upton, 32, made her debut in SI in 2011 and went on to appear on the cover in 2012, 2013, 2017 and, finally, for the publication's 60th anniversary in 2024. Over the years, she's been part of some iconic photoshoots for the magazine, but the one that stands out in particular is from her first appearance in 2011. At just 19, Upton turned heads wearing nothing but "body paint."

For the shoot, Upton was photographed by Stewart Shining and the "Body Paint" work was done by Joanne Gair. It remains once of the most iconic spreads in the history of the publications.

It's not hard to see why.

While Upton crushed the feature, she did admit that it was a little bit of an adjustment to do.

"I definitely feel naked...because I am," Upton said at the time about her "body paint" shoot.

It remains to be seen if Upton will return to SI Swim for the 2025 issue, but she stood alongside the magazine's editor MJ Day and general manager Hillary Drezner last week while accepting an award at Adweek's Brandweek in Phoenix.

"Hillary Drezner, our general manager, and Kate Upton, our four-time cover model and the catalyst for change back in 2012, have both played instrumental roles in creating the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit brand being celebrated tonight," Day said during her prepared remarks.

"This recognition represents not only our team’s hard work, but the collective effort of countless women who have inspired us to push the boundaries of what representation looks like in media. As an all-female team at SI Swimsuit, we’ve always believed that beauty comes in many forms. And our commitment to promoting women, empowerment, evolution and inclusion is at the heart of everything we do.”
