Barstool Founder Dave Portnoy Gives Awesome Gift To Local Pizza Place
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy can be an extremely polarizing figure in sports, media and everything in-between. But the man loves pizza with all of his heart and did an amazing good deed for a local pizza place in a recent video.
Portnoy was in Baltimore this week and did a Barstool Pizza Review at a local place called TinyBrickOven. He quickly realized that he had a massive fan at the shop as the store owner immediately knew who he was and asked to give him a selfie. The owner even offered to make Portnoy a fresher pizza in order to maximize the taste for him but Portnoy declined.
As Portnoy exited the shop with his pie in hand, he noticed a sign on the box that the store would be closing down on Christmas Day unless it received some donations. Filled with "the Christmas Spirit," Portnoy went back into the shop and asked the owner how much it would cost to keep the store open for a year. When the man said $60,000, Portnoy immediately said "Done," and offered his hand to seal the deal.
The owner was overjoyed and gave Portnoy a round of applause as he made his exit.
Fans on social media have been absolutely loving this video and the story. Locals in Baltimore were grateful to Portnoy for saving a beloved pizza place, while even some of Portnoy's haters couldn't help but give him props.
"As a person who lives just out of Baltimore, thank you stool Presidente for saving this restaurant at least for now!!!" one user replied.
"This is why we love Dave. He’s a good person. He cares about people. This is awesome. These are the stories we want to share during the holidays," another wrote.
"I talk a LOT of (expletive) about Dave Portnoy but holy shit (expletive) is awesome. Respect where it’s deserved, this is an incredible act of generosity," a third declared.
"Need a follow up next Christmas! Awesome job Portnoy! Don’t always agree with you or like you but this is what Christmas is all about. God bless you" wrote a fourth.
'Tis the season to be jolly and Portnoy certainly made a lot more people jolly with his actions at TinyBrickOven.
