Stan Van Gundy is fully devoted to broadcasting these days, but he knows all about the life of being a head coach.

That's why Van Gundy isn't too keen about one of his daughters dating someone in the profession, a fact he joked about during Thursday night's UConn-San Diego State Sweet 16 game.

During the Huskies' 82-50 rout of the Aztecs, TBS cameras cut away to UConn head coach Dan Hurley's wife Andrea in the crowd.

When his broadcast partner Kevin Harlan mentioned that Hurley called his spouse "the perfect wife," Van Gundy jumped in.

"I will just tell you, having coached for a long time and seeing what my wife had to go through, I have three daughters, and I would absolutely panic if they were involved with a coach," Van Gundy said with a laugh. "That is a hard life and I give Andrea Hurley all the credit in the world."

Stan was a coach at the collegiate and professional levels for 40 years from 1981-2021. He and his wife Kimberly were married for 25 years before her tragic passing in 2023 and had four children together, including those aforementioned daughters.

As for Hurley, he shouted out his wife again following the game for her commitment to washing his lucky underwear in between games.

Hey, whatever works. And everything is certainly working for UConn, which has now won nine straight NCAA Tournament games by double-digits.
