Stephen A. Smith Has Some Serious Competition For TV Job He's Eyeing

Stephen A. Smith on his show.

Stephen A. Smith is a star at ESPN, but he recently announced his desire to expand his television horizons.

On "The Stephen A. Smith Show," Smith emphatically said he'd love to host Wheel of Fortune, which is looking for a replacement for longtime lead man Pat Sajak.

"I want to throw my name into the hat," Smith said. "I ain't trying to give up my day job, I ain't trying to give up my podcast. But I got to tell you, if 'Wheel of Fortune' called to ask me to host the show for a couple of days, I wouldn't mind. I wouldn't mind hosting that show while folks try to figure out what those letters mean and it equates to."

It's awesome that Stephen A., who shared that his mother was a huge Wheel of Fortune fan, is interested in the iconic game show, but it doesn't sound like he's in Sony's plans.

The early leader in the clubhouse to succeed Sajak? American Idol front man and longtime radio host Ryan Seacrest, who is already in talks for the position, according to reports

For now, until Seacrest sings his name on the dotted line, the dream of Stephen A. hosting the wheel remains alive, however far-fetched it may seem.
