Troy Aikman Names His Pick For 2024 NFL MVP
The NFL MVP race is hitting the final stretch, with several stars still in the mix.
Buffalo's Josh Allen is the favorite, followed closely by Baltimore's Lamar Jackson, who has won the award twice. Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley has also made a strong case, and in recent weeks, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has played his way into the conversation by willing his team to the brink of a postseason berth.
With a porous defense and limited running game around him, Burrow is playing some of the best ball of his career. He's carried the Bengals to four straight wins, including a 30-24 overtime thriller over the Denver Broncos last weekend.
If the Bengals beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday night, and the Broncos lose to the Chiefs and Dolphins lose to the Jets, Cincinnati will somehow sneak into the playoffs.
Even if they miss the postseason, Troy Aikman believes Burrow is worthy of the winning his first MVP.
"I will just say that, no disrespect to anyone and the great years that they've had, I had a vote, it would go to Joe Burrow," Aikman said on Monday Night Football tonight. "What he has done has been terrific and that game the other night, he just refused to lose."
While Tony Romo, another former Cowboys star quarterback turned broadcaster, says he would vote for Allen if he had the chance, Aikman has support from one of Dallas' biggest current stars.
Linebacker Micah Parsons said recently that if the Bengals make the playoffs, Burrow should be the MVP.
"If Joe Burrow takes this team to the playoffs I don’t even think it should be in question who's MVP!! God damm! Best in the world [right now]," Parsons wrote on social media.
Burrow and the Bengals will take on the Steelers Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN in the nightcap of a doubleheader.
