On Thursday afternoon, the college football world learned the five finalists for one of the game's most prestigious awards.

The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award is given annually to the best upperclassman quarterback in the country. During the 2021 season there were plenty of stellar performances, but five quarterbacks stood out.

College football insider Brett McMurphy revealed the list:

  • Matt Corral - Ole Miss
  • Sam Hartman - Wake Forest
  • Devin Leary - NC State
  • Kenny Pickett - Pitt
  • Desmond Ridder - Cincinnati

Here's the news from McMurphy.

All five quarterbacks have played incredible football this year. Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett burst onto the scene a few years ago as a true freshman, but struggled with inconsistency in recent years.

He took his game to another level this season and is in the mix to be the first quarterback selected in the 2022 NFL draft. So too is Matt Corral, who leads one of the most potent offenses in the country. He and the Rebels can score with the best of them.

Sam Hartman and the Demon Deacons have also shocked the nation with their performance this year. He has Wake Forest in contention for an ACC title.

Who should win?
