Bill Belichick is distancing himself from this offseason's Aaron Rodgers speculation.

When asked about the rumor that the Patriots were interested in making a run at the four-time MVP, Belichick said he was unaware of any such interest.

Via Pats reporter Doug Kyed:

I personally couldn't speak to that. Listen, there's a lot of conversations in the offseason between our personnel people and other executives. I don't know what he's really talking about. I personally didn't talk to the Packers about Aaron Rodgers, no. ... Aaron Rodgers is a great player. But that's not really something we were - I was aware of.

A couple months ago it was reported that Aaron Rodgers "turned down" a trade to New England, per FOX Sports' Eric Carton.

The former WFAN radio personality said back in June: "Aaron Rodgers almost wasn't a Jet. The New England Patriots made an offer to the Green Bay Packers to get Aaron Rodgers, and when Aaron Rodgers heard it, his agent said, 'No, we ain't playing for New England. We want to be a Jet.'"

Belichick's relationship with former first-round pick Mac Jones has been called into question numerous times. So it's not too hard to fathom the Patriots' head coach and GM mulling over a move.

But that seems to be BB's story and he's sticking to it.
