Veteran big man Montrezl Harrell is on the move. The Washington Wizards are trading Harrell to a fellow Eastern Conference team.

Harrell is heading to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for young center Vernon Carey Jr. and guard Ish Smith, according to reports.

Shams Charania of The Athletic was first with the news of Harrell getting dealt, while ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the compensation.

The 28-year-old Harrell averaged 14.1 points and 6.7 rebounds per game in 46 appearances with the Wizards this season. Washington acquired him as part of the blockbuster Russell Westbrook trade last summer.

For his career, Harrell is averaging 13.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. With the Hornets, he should provide some scoring and rebounding punch while serving as a target for LaMelo Ball in the pick-and-roll game.

Charlotte is currently 28-28 overall and in ninth place in the Eastern Conference.
