The Tampa Bay Buccaneers start their title defense in less than two weeks. For the moment, they'll be without a key veteran up front on defense.

Ndamukong Suh joined the Bucs in 2019, a year before the team added Tom Brady and ran to a Super Bowl. While he is no longer an All-Pro-level performer, he was a key piece in a pretty loaded defense overall.

He appeared in all 16 games for the Bucs, recording 44 total tackles, six sacks, and a forced fumble on the year. He had 10 tackles and 1.5 sacks during the playoffs last year.

As the team prepares for its third and final preseason game, Suh has been placed on the COVID-19 reserve list by the team. He's the fourth player to be added this week.

As Greg Auman says, if he remains asymptomatic and tests negative soon, he can return relatively quickly. Suh is joined by offensive linemen Nick Leverett and Earl Watford, and kicker Ryan Succop on the COVID-19 reserve list. Luckily for Tampa Bay, the timing shouldn't threaten Suh ahead of the regular season opener. He has 12 days to get cleared for a big home game against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, Sept. 9 to open the entire NFL regular season. The Buccaneers are on the road at the Houston Texans to close preseason play tonight. The game kicks off at 8 p.m. ET. [

Bucs defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh did not travel with the team to Houston and is being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. He's the fourth Bucs player placed on the list this week. All he needs to return is no symptoms and two negative tests 24 hours apart.
