It's only a matter of time before Anthony Lynn becomes a head coach again. Next time, it could be at the collegiate level.

According to NFL reporter Jim Trotter, USC boosters have contacted former Chargers head coach and current Lions offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn about the school's head coaching vacancy. He's interested, too.

"USC boosters have reached out to @Lions offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn to gauge his interest in the university’s vacancy (the answer: he would be interested in the job)," Trotter reported on Twitter. "To date there has been no contact between the school and Lynn."

There have been rumors suggesting the Trojans want an NFL coach to be their newest leader. Lynn fits the bill.

The bottom line is USC needs to hit this hire out of the park. Go big or go home, as a the old saying goes. Anthony Lynn wouldn't be the flashiest hire, but he's an NFL guy. The Trojans could do much, much worse. Regardless, USC fans don't appear to happy about the Lynn rumors.

"Just embarrassing the program further at this point," one fan said regarding the Lynn to USC rumors.

Take a look at what other college football fans are saying about Trotter's report.

Would Anthony Lynn leave the Lions mid-season? Probably not. But it's worth making contact ahead of time.

Lynn would probably end up being a massive upgrade over Clay Helton, which isn't saying much.

The Trojans need a tough-nosed leader. Is Lynn the man for the job?
