Indianapolis Colts Have Released Veteran Defensive Player

The Indianapolis Colts have reportedly released a veteran defensive player heading into the start of the regular season.

According to a report from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Colts have released veteran defensive back Sean Davis.

Davis, 27, signed with the Colts earlier this offseason. The veteran defensive back was a second round pick out of Maryland in the 2016 NFL Draft. Davis began his career in Pittsburgh, playing for the Steelers from 2016-19. He then spent time with both the Steelers and the Washington Football Team in 2020.

The veteran defensive back signed a one-year deal with the Colts at the start of free agency. However, the AFC South franchise is releasing him prior to the start of the regular season.

The release has been confirmed.

The Colts are set to open the regular season on Sunday, Sept. 12 against the Seattle Seahawks. Kickoff for that Week 1 game is scheduled for 1 p.m. E.T. on FOX.
