Diddy Makes Decision On $1 Million Promise To Jackson State After Deion Sanders' Departure
Even after the departure of his friend Deion Sanders, Sean "Diddy" Combs is making good on his promise to donate $1 million to Jackson State.
On June 26, 2022, Diddy pledged $1 million to his alma mater, Howard University. After making this announcement during the Lifetime Achievement Award at the BET Awards, the platinum recording artist said he would do the same for Coach Prime and Jackson State.
"Before I leave, I want to donate $1 million dollars to Howard University," Diddy said in his speech. "Also, I'm going to drop another million dollars on Deion Sanders and Jackson State because we should play for us."
Jackson State University interim president Dr. Elayne Hayes-Anthony recently announced that Diddy has kept his promise.
"P Diddy, as our students call him, and as we probably know him as Sean Combs, has released $1 million dollars to Jackson State for athletics," Hayes-Anthony said. "And we are very, very pleased about that. We will be receiving $332,000 by June 23 as a first installment and we get another installment in 2024 and another in 2025."
Sanders left Jackson State to take over his current head coaching job at Colorado in December 2022. That being said, his impact is still being felt throughout the HBCU program.
