ESPN's Greg McElroy Has A Warning For The Big Ten Conference
Greg McElroy attempted to give some free advice to the Big Ten when it comes to boosting its chances of putting more teams in the College Football Playoff.
On Monday, the ESPN analyst hopped on the "Always College Football" podcast to point out that there's no real structure to the B1G's scheduling format.
Adding that the view some have on the outside is that the conference is cherry picking wins for its big name schools in order to boost their respective Playoff chances.
You can kind of give off the impression, fair or unfair, that you can stack the deck for the teams that are likely to make a Playoff run. If you're Ohio State, you know you have Michigan, but what's to stop the Big Ten from giving you eight very manageable opponents in order to best curb things to allow them an easier pathway to the Playoff? I'm not saying that's what the Big Ten is doing, by the way. I just caution the Big Ten. I hope that there is a more digestible structure down the road. [In order to get rid of that cherry picking narrative].
Despite all of Michigan's success last season, many looked to their "weak" schedule as a big part of why they were able to remain undefeated going into the Ohio State game. While others see a conference like the SEC, where it's a battle almost every week.
