Football World Reacts To Latest Brock Purdy Update
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is addressing his elbow injury sustained in the NFC Championship against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Although Purdy's surgery orginally scheduled for Wednesday by Dr. Keith Meister has been postponed, the 23-year-old could still be ready for the start of next season.
NFL Network analyst Mike Garafolo provided an update this afternoon on where things stand with Purdy.
"Brock Purdy was supposed to undergo a UCL repair today," Garafolo said," that has been pushed back until at least March because of inflammation in his elbow. The hope is he will still be on track to play Week 1 this upcoming season.
"I know if you're doing a the math here and saying, 'you guys told us it was a six-month recovery. March plus six-months gets us into september. Yes. But it's not just six months until he can throw a football, it's three months if that UCL repair that they're expecting with the enteral brace.
"In about three months he'll start throwing and when it gets to six months, the thought is he's a full-go. So if he gets the surgery in early March, the hope is he'll be a full-go in early September. Now will he practice in training camp and all that stuff is TBD, the hope keeps him on track to be ready for Week 1 of the regular season."
The NFL world, especially 49ers fans, reacted to the news on social media.
Hopefully Purdy makes a complete recovery.
