Lead NFL insiders Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport have conflicting reports coming out of Tuesday's Broncos head coaching news.

Rapoport says the Broncos attempted to hire DeMeco Ryans again earlier today before settling for Sean Payton. Schefter says the Broncos haven't had contact with Ryans since their meeting last week.

"Unbelievable: The #Broncos spent today trying to hire DeMeco Ryans AGAIN today before he recommitted to the #Texans, sources say. When he agreed to terms with the Texans, they moved and finalized Sean Payton," Rapoport reported.

"Timing of today’s two hires was completely coincidental. Broncos were zeroed in on Sean Payton, and didn’t make any contact this week with DeMeco Ryans or his agent. Denver was focused on Payton, and Houston on Ryans," Schefter opposed.

The NFL world took to Twitter to react to this "source off."

"Rapoport vs. Schefter battle! The NFL offseason has arrived," one fan wrote.

"Hell yeah Schefter and Rapoport are fighting on the timeline," another said.

"Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport are having a reporter- off right now and I'm here for it," another added.

While these details are still uncertain, both reporters agree that Payton is set to be the next head coach of the Denver Broncos — and Ryans is the new head coach of the Houston Texans.
